Muse-ish Miscellany

I believe there’s more to life that what meets the eye (but that it’s a good place to start).

*

I would secretly quite like to be a chef/baker (among many other things) and spend a lot of time cooking vegetarian/vegan creations in my favourite pan (some of which end up on my instagram page), but my knife skills are appalling. I also make a lot of my own cosmetics/skincare/haircare products (which I sell here!), from toothpaste to perfume and from face masks to hand and body creams. I like the idea of keeping things as simple, natural and chemical-free as possible using completely organic (often edible) ingredients.

*

I will probably never get tired of travelling all over the world. (But returning home is always a pleasure, and I fall deeper and deeper in love with Oxford as time goes on.)

*

If you like the idea of me modelling for you, it’s definitely best to just contact me directly and say so – even if I were better at noticing online ‘hints’ (comments on my pictures, facebook friend requests, and the like) for what they are, I appreciate that those I work with have positively taken the initiative to express a clear desire to create something with me by sending a direct message stating so – it’s inspiring for me to know that you are enthusiastic!

*

I’m frequently mistaken for being a teenager/student. Although I find this absolutely hilarious (and flattering), I put it down to my good diet/lifestyle, addiction to water (well, there are worse addictions one could have) and my occasional propensity to dress like a 3-year-old.

*

I am slightly addicted (to amend the last point) to peanut butter.

*

And tea.

*

I’m possibly too honest sometimes and on shoots I will speak up if I can see potential improvements or have ideas (sometimes a model notices things about an image that a client may not spot). I do care about the results of any work I am involved with, and have found this to be of great help to those I collaborate with.

*

I sometimes wonder if this career is just an excellent excuse to maintain several wardrobes full of whimsical, non-practical & beautiful things.

*

I have intense dreams and sometimes wake up exhausted, having saved the world (or hung out with Hermione from Harry Potter, etc.)

*

Although modelling is my occupation, my integrity is more important to me than money; I will (and quite frequently do) turn down paid work if I don’t think I’m the girl for the style of the job, and can be a little selective over the work I accept, simply because I want to continue loving this job (so far I’ve turned down Game of Thrones twice, as much as I love it and would love to appear in it). This has absolutely nothing to do with your level of experience; I’m very beginner friendly! Sidenote: I’m afraid I don’t consider publication in men’s mags (or similar) an ‘opportunity’.

*

Hitting ‘random songs’ on my Mp3 would result in a medley of everything from Zero7 to Leonard Cohen, Beyonce to Radiohead, Joni Mitchell to acoustic Hindi, and Dire Straits to ‘Teach yourself French’.

*

It’s rare that I am given any direction whatsoever on shoots (though I’m perfectly happy to be directed if you know what you want!), so my portfolio generally represents my own natural posing & movement.

*

I’ve always been in love with colours (and can ‘diagnose’ which hues and tones will best suit you within seconds)… In fact, I’m writing about it.

*

You get what you see. I don’t accept/include images for my own portfolio in which my body shape has been ‘liquefied’/altered; I represent myself fairly. Yes, I might look incredible nipped/tucked/inflated… But I’d rather be credible. (I don’t mind in the slightest if photographers want to do this stuff for their own uses.)

*

I modelled exclusively for an internationally-renowned painter for a year (3/4 times a week; not from photographs); I’m good at keeping still! It was an honour. You can see some results on my website. I still model for him sometimes (and am available for work created with various media).

*

I keep myself in shape but am happy having curves. I am stubbornly uninterested in calories.

*

I’m fuelled by Earl Grey tea. Or Lady Grey or Chai if I’m feeling wild.  (No coffee, alcohol, smoke, meat, dairy or fish.)

*

I’m very very experienced at modelling for tuition/workshops (boudoir, fashion, nude, portraiture, wedding…). I’m relaxed, friendly and good at putting people at ease. I can pose with or without direction, as required.

*

I’m pleased to announce the fruit of several months’ coordination and three years of my happy deviation into a life of art modelling: an official print book, ‘Faerie Garden’, is now available for purchase via my shop, thanks to the kindness and generosity of the artists involved! Read all about it here, and you can view/purchase it here, with a proportion of any profits going to Amnesty. Thank you.
