Venezia
My last trip abroad of 2014 took me to somewhere I’d never been to before – Venice! J H and I had been discussing it for what felt like forever, so it was so nice to have the opportunity to model there. I posted a few snaps over on my instagram account. 🙂 This was our view just before touching down, before swishing across the water on a vaporetto, Bond-style, to arrive at the incredible, quite gothic apartment we were staying in, and I was also really pleased with this shot, which apparently presented my ‘photographer’s eye’ as much as my ‘muse-dom’… Haha.
J has written about this trip: ‘I set myself the challenge of trying to shoot a little “Russo-Venetian glamour” drawing inspiration from the medium format-style fashion and glamour photography favoured by a number of very talented Russian and Ukrainian artists with lots of lovely, rich, saturated colours and contrasty black & whites all framed with a square crop.’
Thank you J!

What a Wonderful Year! Presenting: 2014
It’s New Years Eve tomorrow and I have a feeling I might not be able to get on the computer much in between seeing friends and celebrating (not that NYE is that big a deal to me; I’m one of those people who comes up with resolutions almost every week, so what’s a few more to add to the list?!), so I thought I’d get this blog post in early!
I was originally going to publish my travel schedule for the next 12 months and talk about a few things I’m doing next year, but first, I want to look back!
So… Without further delay, here’s a post I’ve come to very much enjoy compiling at the end of each year: my run down of highlights from this blog over the last twelve months. (2013 highlights here & 2012 highlights here.)
Get your remaining Christmas chocolates to hand (I highly favour ferrero rochers, personally), and any leftover mulled wine, and get comfy…
Primary Love
Fires Beneath her Feet
I had a lovely day recently modelling for Adrian Spencer’s lens, wearing the corsetry and designs of the extremely talented Julia Bremble (Clessidra). We also had Shameem Kumar doing some maquillage, and Budd’s Flowers design for the hair pieces and a bouquet which is (still) adorning my bathroom. 🙂
We were so lucky to catch this incredible autumn scene with fiery light, just outside Julia’s studio – such a beautiful setting for a bridal theme! More soon…
Sunshine & Water
Today I’m publishing some results from a blissful ‘sunshine shoot’ in Portugal a couple of months ago. I was there along with the excellent Raphaella, being photographed by Tom McArthur and Carl Grim (with whom I’m working with again tomorrow in London).
Here’s a beachy-peachy pic of me and Raph, sneakily stolen from her facebook/instagram 😉
We all got on brilliantly and had a lovely time, and the two photographers were so different, it was hilarious – anyone who’s worked with Carl knows that he has an inhuman amount of energy and enthusiasm, frequently interrupting the camera clicks with screams of excitement and encouragement at full lung capacity – it’s a cause of a lot of giggles and lots of fun – whereas Tom and I are of the more laid back, mellow variety, repeatedly nodding ‘that’s quite nice’ quietly, when what we mean is ‘WOW!!!’ until it became a bit of a running joke.
‘That’s OK, I suppose – nice-ish…’ etc.
I suppose I’m a bit more restrained than some and have never got the hang of the ‘WWWWOOOOW I LOOK SO SUPER HOT & fabulous, darling, don’t I?’ thing whether in person or by email – but I’m exceedingly honest and if I say I like something, I really do; ‘quite nice’ is often my equivalent of ‘WOW, I love it!!’. I do get excited; just a bit more quietly! I’m British, don’t you know?
From Tom (quite nice):
From Carl (SUPER AMAZING AND AWESOME AND WOOOOOOWWW!! 🙂 🙂 :-)):
Portents, with Paride
I had another really creative shoot recently with photographer Paride Ernesto Odierna, this time in the beautiful streets of my hometown, Oxford.
Shooting in the legendary city of Oxford is something I really don’t do enough, and I’m not sure why! These were taken over just one hour in the evening, as I strolled around in my wedding dress, and hint at some of the architecture and atmosphere of the place, which has many a ghost story hidden away in its colourful history. I hope, after seeing these, more photographers might be inspired to shoot there with me. It’s full of hidden gems and beauty spots – heaven for a photographer?
I think the first and last are favourites for me. Thanks Paride!
