Ella-2b7-5482-3Well, I think we can all join hands and agree that I’ve been absolutely atrocious at maintaining this blog, of late. Instead, I’ve been waffling quite a bit over here, and offering snippets of my day to day life (yes, that means instagramming my cooking, Sir Fluffalot and notions of the weird and whimsical stuff I get up to) and facebooking instead. I may as well be completely honest; modelling has taken a little backseat in my life recently. That’s not to say I don’t have 59,798 images lined up to show; they are gathering on my computer like a vertitable, gorgeous mountain – and the images I have lined up to share are ones which I’ve received from photographers delightedly (even after doing this for 7 years it stills feels a bit like Christmas when you open your inbox and find you’ve been sent a new influx of photographs from recent exploits!). I’ve written in other places about my intention to continue modelling as long as I enjoy it, (and how I see modelling so much as an emerging documentation of myself – see recent blog post on ‘self-ing the self’ for more on this); the problem for me has always been that I enjoy far too many things at once.

That is, the fact that I am modelling slightly less at the moment, and may be operating in this reduced way for quite some time (it is unlikely I will be doing it full-time again), is only because I am pursuing so many other things and flitting my existence all over the place like a butterfly on some kind of creative acid. There is such a thing as a 7 year cycle, it turns out; modelling still floats my boat like you wouldn’t believe (the moments and opportunities I’ve had completely astound me; the urge to prance against waterfalls even when photographers are not around is intense), but my life has been steadily multiplying in multiple directions and, well, I’ve chosen to be available for photoshoots slightly less often than before.

I am still modelling on and off, and now and then for certain photographers, and still welcome contact, as I’ll always say yes to an idea or photoshoot or travel opportunity that catches my attention if I can fit it into my schedule.

In the meantime, prepare yourselves for an influx of photos over here; I intend to make up for the recent lack of photos in a big way. I’ve just been looking through my ‘to be blogged’ folder, and it’s like wading through something very wild and colourful and sparkly; so many places, styles, people I am so grateful to have modelled for, that choosing which to start with is a bit like playing ‘Eeny, meeny, miny, moe’. I don’t mean to sound overly pleased with myself; more just overwhelmed and excited. Anyway, let’s kick things off with some glimpses of the weird and wonderful world of Andrew Green.

I absolutely love working with Andrew; he has an encyclopedic knowledge of classic myth and is lots of fun to work with; I’ve stopped off at his place twice now when passing through the Middlesbrough area and am always glad to have made the journey. He manages to transform a perfectly normal studio into a chaos (understatement!) of colour and props. The most recent time I was there, every time I made a noise, a skull lit up and spoke to me from over my shoulder. Terrifying!

The pages I had open in his replica William Morris (Kelmscott) Chaucer (a rather heavy and cumbersome prop, if very beautiful!) was his translation of the “The Romaunt of the Rose” (Romance of the Rose) – an allegorical French Romance.
